Elite Vinhos tests Natural Herbicide as an alternative to Glyphosate
Elite Vinhos and the Municipality of Reguengos de Monsaraz together with the company Belchim presented the results of the test installed in the Elite Vinhos vineyard with the herbicide based on Pelargonic acid, a natural compound of the plants, which acts by contact by dissecting weeds. It causes changes in the permeability of the cell membrane of the epidermis of plants, destroying the cuticle and causing dehydration in a few hours.
The results were positive in the tested weeds (vivacious and annual) in various stages of their vegetative states.
For Elite Vinhos, this is a product that fits into its production strategy, where the reduction of any residues of plant protection products is one of its main objectives.
